VFE inserting special characters

Hi,

I have to provide a user with a text area where he can type the links
ww.yahoo.com
www.google.com

After typing the links and if the user clicks enter there are A^ characters
that appear on the html after generating.
In the tpl I have written a regex to trial off returns and new lines but doesn't work can some one suggest how can i do this
my $quicklinkbody=iwpt_dcr_value('Portlet.quicklinkbody');
$quicklinkbody=~s/\r|\n//g;

sounds like a character encoding issue. I'd take a look at your config files and see how you're encoding things.

In VF, after hitting enter at last of string, it is coveted to p Tags.
can you tell me what are you getting in VF field, after clicking on save on VF?

I'm experiencing the same thing. If the user simply clicks on the VF field and enters no text whatsoever, VF inserts a non-break character. This causes spacing issues on the tpl.

This started to happend when I customized the VF options to strip out Word formatting and specying a clean option to remove fonts which we need since users often do this.

I'm now trying to do a regex using Javascript to strip it out but no luck with that either. Apparently IE does not include the non-breaking space with the /s character set.

What a pain!

Anyone have experience stripping out a non-break character? Or figuring what option with VF to suppress it in the first place?
