Major changes with TS 7.x installation compared to TS 6.x?

We could able to install the TS 6.x versions on windows without database information by selecting default option. When we tried to install TS 7.x, the installation is asking for database connection information. Is there any way to skip DB info? Are there any major changes related to installation between TS 6.x and 7.x?

Yes, you will neeed the database for 7.x installations. Infact you will need databases for different modules (common services, sitepublisher etc.). GO through the installation manual of 7.x and you will find all the related information.

Thanks for the information. I am just talking about TeamSite and common services(if required for TeamSite), not other products like LiveSite, Site publisher, etc.

What are the permissions need to have for the DB user? I guess TS may be trying to create default tables/schema on database.

Iwov tends to forget nowadays that there are still users out there that do NOT use livesite. :-(

I would try to enter fake data for the db-connections and see if the installer continues.

Tried that, it is verifying the connection with all supplied information. It is giving error message if the information is invalid.

Well, in that case get yourself a db-account (is mysql supported??); do the install; disable the db-connection in the livesite config; drop the db account.

After this it would bother you anymore. :-(

We gave the correct details for Oracle user account. At last it gave the error message - Error while creating/updating table check the user privileges. That means the installation is trying to do some DBA work.

Not sure whether they implemented this feature for common services or some other product. Is it a mistake or making compulsory from 7.x onwards?

A db is required, even if you don't use the sitepublisher and livesite feature.

TeamSite 7.1 does not support mysql (even the example in the install guide uses mysql database information). TeamSite 7.2.1 does support mysql.

Any clue what are the permissions needed for Oracle db users? what is creating in database after ? ex: DBA permission and creating new schema with 5 tables. etc. I verified installation document and could not find much details.

The db-user must be able to create tables, indexes, views, etc. That should be enough.

The db-user(not having full DBA permissions to create schema) has permissions to create the table. We tried to create a table from SQL Developer and there is no issue. But the same user has issue with TS installation. Here is the error message :

Getting this same error using an Oracle 11G RAC database. Installing TS7.2.1 fresh on Linux RH5.3. Once again, Interwoven's cryptic error messages with no useful details strikes again. Can't find any log files that help us either. We have been ensured by our DBA that the DB user we are using has sysdb privileges. So irritating...

Can't find any logs anywhere that monitor the installation - that's irritating. Our database.properties file looks like this. The part in red is concerning - should these values be getting filled in as part of the process?

are you using the silent installer or the installer with a GUI?

Did the installer go thru the DB input fields and produced this error at the end of the installation process? or you never got thru the DB configurations?

installation log should be in: iw-home/iwinstall/logs/installer.log

also Verify the installer DB configs in: iw-home/iwinstall/private/config/installer.properties
