Hi ALL,Whats the exact difference between URL and External task ?How can a URL task be used? under what circumstances?Any thoughts?
I usually charge about 50% more for a URL task. It sounds much more difficult. :-)
URL Task is a Java-based External Task that implements "CSURLExternalTask" Interface. It is not interactive.Semantically the Usage is similar to a traditional external task. The difference is that it's a Servlet, invocationis through Web Daemon by URL, Job/Task information is posted etc
Thanks to all. I got it.Does this mean URL Task = External Task + Implementation of External command using JAVA ?One more help. And is it possible to execute a Servlet/JSP using a CGI Task ? Or CGI Task is meant to execute only CGI Script as the name suggests?
CGIs expect a URI - whether that URI points to a script (living within IWHOME/httpd/iw-bin/) or a servlet / JSP (installed from IWHOME/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src and referenced from /iw-cc/) is completely up to you.
