TeamSite 6.7.2 -> TeamSite 7.1

I am looking to upgrade from 6.7.2 to 7.1 and was wondering how this went for others on the site.

Just looking for anything to watch out for.

Also I noticed 7.2 is available.. We would be interested hearing about 6.72 --7.2 also and any issues to look out for.

I have done a half dozen 6.7.2 - 7.1 upgrades. It is definitely different. Not trivial but I think in the long run, this new installer will be a success.

If you use VMWare, running a practice on the dev server would be a really good idea.

There are some threads on devnet, so you may want to peruse those.

Make certain your DB is set up and ready to run, because that is required.

Also, LS/SP is part of the install whether you have it or not, so you will need to decide what the LSDS server is (LS prod server), even if it does not exist.

I've done two upgrades. One of which went OK and the other went horribly bad. Both of my upgrades resulted in some type of failure with the installer where you basically get kicked out of the install process with a unexpected error. If this is the case for you, you will need to inspect the installer log file in c:\iwinstall\logs\installer.log to inspect the error. I also had to delete the installer inventory for the 7.1 products (\iwinstall\private\config\) to restart the install.

Other problems I experienced:
- Web Daemon didn't install (manually installed with install_iwwebd.ipl)
- Event Subsystem issues

I doubt you will have these issues. If you do, look in Devnet for most of the common 7.1 issues.

did you try installing 7.2?
the 7.2 installer is much better and smoother. i haven't tried 7.1 but 7.0 installer was a mess.

Not yet, I have downloaded it. I certainly want to soon, maybe in a week or so.

My upgrades were done to 7.1. Glad to hear the 7.2 is better. For me, there are no compelling reasons to upgrade to 7.2 though.
