Trouble installing 6.7.2 SP2

Server: Windows 2003 R2 (Virtual)
TS Version: 6.7.2 SP2

I performed a clean install, not an upgrade.

The install went fine, but when I tried to start the services, the "Interwoven Teamsite" service won't stay started for more then a few seconds

I searched the forums and found a related thread but I'm not seeing the errors in my logs like they had listed.

iwserver.log has these lines whenever I try to start the service:


ERROR: no valid autoprivate file found in the current configuration (E:\iw-home\local\config\autoprivate.cfg, E:\iw-home\config\autoprivate.cfg, E:\iw-home\local\config\autoprivate.cfg) (2)
[Tue Jan 12 09:13:36 2010] ERROR: iwserver did not come up in 600 seconds
[Tue Jan 12 09:13:36 2010] ERROR: Please look at E:\iw-home\local\logs\iwtrace.log for more information

iwtrace.log also appears to be showing no errors:

Any thoughts of where I should start debugging this?

the obvious one, check your license

run tslicinfo and/or tsisvalid

The lic looks ok.

I rebooted the server and it came up with some server errors right away.

The event log has this in the Application Event Viewer:

Faulting application iwserver.exe, version 6.7.2.0, faulting module iwserver.exe, version 6.7.2.0, fault address 0x007482a7.

Unless there's something obvious, I'm going to open a case up with Interwoven.

Certainly open a case, I would also check the iw.server exe and compare it to a working copy. Support will likely tell you to try the install again, so I hope you have.

We did. We were curious if they even supported VM, and they do.

We had an similar problem which was related to problems regarding changes i ldap.

We added these changes to iwserver section in iw.cfg.

use_adsi=false
use_netQuery=true

to correct the problem.

Yeah they definitely support vm, i just did same installation last month and it worked just fine.
i hope you are on 32bit OS.

I have found Sp2 to be very, very buggy. I failed to get it installed twice and had to do a rollback on both installs.

Try to contact support but be prepared to rollback.

Maybe I'll just do the 6.7.2 then. It didn't give any nasty errors.
