A tool or TeamSite template to generate nav.xml entries

I have a requirement to manage the complex xml files effeciently. Could you please suggest an approach to do this task. Is there any way other than Teamsite template which effectivily manages the complex xmls.

Your question is not very clear (at least to me) - are you talking about managing a collection of DCRs associated with a given data-type? Or are you talking about managing XML files that are not DCRs?

We have a requirement to generate complex nav (.xml)files. As of now we don't have any template to generate nav files. Business user are updating manually as of now. We need to provide a tool/template to manage(create/edit/) the files by business users. Yes, we can have a template . But the problem is , as it is complex nav (.xml)file, business user might confuse with templates(containers/elements/replicants/inner level items etc...).

Please suggest an approach in order to provide a user friendly interface(easy to identify the items to add/update).

Is there any Java Temaples in Teamsite.

I'm still not sure I understand the issue - the DCT/DCR combination allows you to define forms that, when populated and saved, create XML files (DCRs) according to the specifications of the DCT - and that can be simple or complex I guess - it's mostly a matter of how they're designed.

You could include further processing via a PT (perl-based or XSLT-based) to generate a different (more complex?) XML file from the DCR.

If I understand the question correctly, no - there are no java templates in TeamSite.

Finally my objective is, generation of xml files using Teamsite template. The xml needs to be validated with xsd files (XML Schema). Could you please suggest an approach how to validate the xml with xsd. Or I am thankful if you provide any pointer which gives the information about these type of validation.

Where we need keep the validation of xml with xsd, while saving the DCR or generating the xml.

templates generate valid XML. You can do this with TST, but you need to code it, which, listening to your knowledge of the system, will not be easy

I found a solution for my requirement in order to provide a Site map of DCR with viewoptions showtree='t' replicant-render='collapsed' in templating.cfg.

But I need to refine the site map of a DCR with more details.

Please find the attached screenshot. In the screenshot , redirects is the replicant. Under redirects 'Redirect Key' is an text item. Once the user saves the DCR, 'Redirect Key' value should be displayed in the left navigation tree.

Please suggest me to achive this.

As per my understanding you do not want the content authors to create a navigation which is complicated in your terms with lots of intricate replicants or containers.

In any company you need to gather requirements and show them a POC for the type of template you provide to create the nav. Its entirely in you hand to convince them how automated the process would be with minimal complexity in the template. If they do not accept, try an approach of CGI for all the levels. So creating 3 CGIs for say Primary Secondary and Tertiary menus and have JScript running in the back ground. (Some thing Fancy).

If we provide the nav key in the left navigation, users directly goes to the required position using the left nav. Then they can do required changes.

So right now you have a DCT for it which Business users are using and they wanted to consolidate it to minimal in order to get rid of maintenance issues. Well you have to re-engineer it. Are you guys uisng Livesite? Livesite provides what u r looking for.
