Removing a preview?
cmoad
Using the COM api, there is no function for removing an asset preview. I imagine there is a way you can use "SetPreviewFromAsset" to tell it to clear the preview, but my attempts have failed.
How do you clear a preview for an asset, specifically a placeholder?
Thanks,
Charlie

To be honest I have never heard this request before. There is as you noted a method for copying over a new preview but in all the API's there is no way currently to remove a preview altogether. If you explain the use case I can try to get it entered into the feature request list!

We use associations on images pointing to placeholders to manage our collections and its photography. Our users often get confused by previews appearing on placeholders. They mis-perceive them as images all the time. Also, keeping the preview images in sync with our relationship rules has proved more trouble than it is worth. We all agreed that it is far more clear to have no preview at all on placeholders.

Well, there are two approaches that would work. The more cumbersome would be to add a new preview, copy over its metadata and adjust the associations to point to the new one. The "simpler" solution is to create a file in Photoshop that contains the words "Placeholder Image" or some such and make sure to make this the preview.
