Integrating TeamSite with Sharepoint Portal

We are looking into integraion options between TeamSite and SharePoint Portal. TeamSite will be used as WCM system and Sharepoint Portal as the front end. We need an architecture diagram of the integration options. Any help on this will be appreciated.

Just out of curiousity why aren't you using SharePoint's CMS? It has workflow and templates. It may not be as robust as TS but I would think that would be a lot easier and better approach than trying to integrate the two.

Actually we need to identify the pain points integrating Sharepoint and Interwoven Teamsite. Client is already having TeamSite so we can not go with Sharepoint CMS.
So any possible integration approach between Sharepoint and Interwoven Teamsite and the pros and cons we need explain to the client.

Well first you have to define what you mean by integration ? Basic stuff is TS can generate content, preview and deploy to SP. Trivial. More advanced is using SP as a portal to view TS tasks etc, similar to other portals. Probably can be done, but I have never seen it.

What do you (or the customer) mean ?

Just because the client already has TeamSite doesn't mean they can't use SharePoint CMS. If anything I would advise the client that they should investigate SharePoints CMS as a replacement for TeamSite. There's no need to be paying yearly maintenance costs for a second CMS product if it's not needed.

Hi Dipankar,

that is a very interesting question you pose here. Whether or not Sharepoint has it's own cms, there may still be very good reason to prefer Teamsite, for what ever reason: corporate policies, skill-sets, hardware, politic, you name it.

What it comes down to is:
1. what level of integration do you want/need
2. how open is Sharepoint to external content, knowing Microsoft policies on this :-)

It should not be to difficult to create/manage content in TS and deploy it to SP. File or database deploy, what ever Sharepoint can put through its mouth. Crucial here is how can you deploy the content into sharepoint, including all metadata-stuff (ownerships, publish dates, etc). You'll need to discuss this with a SP expert.

The seocnd type of integration I can think of is on the SP-frontend. That is, include TS-functionality into SP-frontend via a portlet-thingy. That is a different ballgame. Maybe you could use the SOAP interface of Teamsite, but be prepared for an unknown adventure!
