Upgrading TeamSite - Favorites Question

Hi,

We're upgrading our TeamSite install from 6.7.1 to 6.7.2 SP2. I've had a question from our users asking whether they will lose their favorites during the upgrade.

I've noticed that the ability to rename faves is present now which made me think that maybe they are a new format in the entity DB and the existing ones may be lost.

I've checked the docs incl. Release notes and the supplements and there's no mention of existing favorites being lost.

Does any one have experience of this upgrade path and can give a definitive answer?

Never have seen the favorites get lost in a bunch of different upgrades. It is highly unlikely that they will get lost.

are you upgrading by:
1) installing 672 on top of the existing version? in this case you shouldn't lose the favorites unless something goes wrong with the installation.
2) fresh installation? in this case you will need to migrate the favorites to the new installation directory by migrating data in /iw-home/local/entities. search on iwov support site, there is detailed process to migrates favorites.

Hi,
We are upgrading from Teamsite 6.5, windows 2003 enterprise to Teamsite 7.1 windows 2003 enterprise as a fresh install in a new machine.

We have to migrate the Favorites from 6.5 to 7.1. We tried copying the iw-home/local/entities/Data folder file from 6.5 to 7.1(for a sample user profile who is in both servers), but the 6.5 version entity Data gets overwritten when the user logs into 7.1 version UI, with the default setting of 7.1.

I think, the Entities DATA files are getting loaded from Database.

Could you please point to documentation or steps for migrating Favorites from 6.5 to 7.1(Fresh Install)?
