TS 7.2 install unsuccessful

Hello...
I was trying to upgrade TeamSite from 6.7.2 SP2 to 7.2. The installation proceeded pretty smooth, but the installer gave the following error and quit.

The upgrade/reinstall processing was unsuccessful.

I checked the installer.log and is not giving me any clue and below is the portion where the installer gave up.

Did you install a database before installing TeamSite? Version 7.1 and above requires a database to be installed. Better to have it installed, ready and waiting before starting the TeamSite install.

I believe it's either a permission issue or you need to "unblock" the TeamSite installer files. Try right clicking the .iwpkg and installer .exe and see if they are blocked.

yes. i am using a oracle RAC and the db is up and running.

Yes. it was blocked. i just unblock'ed it. i re-ran the installer, but it quits at the post-install step.

based on logs it seems problem creating JBoss service, look at this line ->

Jboss Service install command ::..... "D:\iw-home\FoundationLibraries\JDK\jre\bin\server\jvm.dl l" ...........

Can you check your installer pointing corerct paths ?

Are you logged in as administrator ?

Finally...yes Finally, TS 7.2 is installed successfully.

The reason why the installation failed is pretty interesting...here is it :-

a windows service "Windows Management Instrumentation" needs to be stopped for the installer to finish copying iwutild.* files.

The reason why the installation was failing was due to the "Windows Management Instrumentation" windows service. That needs to be stopped explicitly for a successful install.

Hope this is what you were looking for and IW Support helped me find this reason.

I am facing the exact problem mentioned in this thread, I have checked the logs, disabled the mentioned service , changed DEP for essential programs only.

However i am still getting the same "Unable to Install/Start Interwoven Jboss Application Server"

when i opened command prompt to try and see if the command mentioned in iwinstall\logs\installer.log is correct i get a permission denied error though i am administrator.

However when i open command prompt with "Run as Administrator" I am able to install and uninstall jboss .

even though i am logged in as administrator is something in windows server 2008 R2 Enterprise on VM preventing the installer to run its full course with admin rights ??

Its been more than 2 days since we started the install on test machine. I am worried if this issue comes up in production install next week it will be a disaster.

Any clues will be of great help.

If you're on W2K8 - you pretty much MUST use "Run As Administrator" in order to do the installations - that's more of an OS thing than a IWOV thing I believe.

So you might want start fresh, wipe and reinstall the OS, and then reinstall TS using a Run As Administrator command prompt (I suggest restarting as you may have "cruft" left behind from "partially successful" installation efforts that might mess up something down the road.

I am running as user logged on with Admin rights, since user with admin rights is failing, I had explained the issue to local server incharge.

Although I am not sure what changes the server admin made , today i was able to finish the install without issues.

most likely changes made by admin were policy changes which allows running as Administrator.

Right-click the file and select Properties. If the General tab includes a Security section, make sure the Unblock option is not selected.

I don't see any unblock option when I did right click on iwpkg file but I see for .exe file. I unblocked it, but still getting following error.

Just checking, there is a windows service called Windows management instrumentation. Have you stopped it before doing the install ?
