Changing Permissions makes pencils.

If I make a change to the permissions on a file, folder or even the workarea it flags my files as modified. Just the act of adding a group or user to the permissions changes them. I think I've seen others comment about this. Is there any way to prevent this?

Not really, and why should there be? You did, in fact, modify the file (maybe not its contents, but the "object" itself) - and thus if you want to preserve those changes you need to submit them.

Folders are a bit trickier because TeamSite doesn't really version directories - they either exist within the backing store or they don't. I don't remember if it updates the properties in the backing store without versioning, or if it doesn't even do that kind of update.
