Global/Local Parameter in Scope Attribute of Object Tag on External

I normally use local parameter on calling java class from external tag.

For Ex:-

Object Scope="local" /*package path to java class*/ Object


But I had seen one or two component where Scope is written as global..

I could not find the difference between the two?

i think global is similar to singlton i would stick with local
