Issue when Deploying through WorkFlow

I had a issue coming up when i try to deploy my files through WorkFlow.
Though Open Deploy server is running. I get the same error.

OpenDeploy Status Unknown. FAILED. Locating OpenDeploy service. Got OpenDeploy service ***ERROR - Caught exception in runIt(). Details: REQUEST_DENIED Please check that the OpenDeploy server is running.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Has this been working before, or is this a new receiver?

Does it only fail through workflow, or does it fail when you run from the command line? Likely this has nothing to do with workflow and only with OpenDeploy. You should probably post it in that forum instead.

Do the ports match up in your base and receiver configs?

Is there a firewall in between your base and receiving servers?

If you log in locally to the base server, can you telnet to the receiver on that port?

Does the receiver service stay up when you start it?

Yes this has been working with Test.xml file.

When i use workflow --Fails

when i use it with OD it works...

There are no firewalls in both base and receiver

Is the command that your workflow is running the same as what you are running from the command line?

Are you using iwodcmd or iwstart? (you should be using iwodcmd)

where does this csContextstring Locates and any suggestions,how i resolve this issue.

I would say that you have to start with understanding the workflow in question - is this issue happening from a DeployTask or some other type of task that is performing a deployment programmatically?

If the former - putting the workflow in debug mode may help you identify why it's getting a blank for the user name.

If the latter, you'll have to look at whatever program you're calling to figure out why it's passing a blank for the user name.

In either case - you may also have to look carefully at the deployment configuration file, as it is possible that the deployment configuration file is expecting a parameter, to be passed in on the command line, that is either not being passed in, or is being passed in incorrectly (relative to what's expected).

Any luck finding a solution to this issue? We are in the process of upgrading from 7.2.1 to 7.3.2 and are running into the same errors.

We figured out that after upgrading the passphrases were out of sync between TeamSite and OpenDeploy. Once we copied the passphrase file from TS to OD, the deployment worked

I am getting the same error. My environment is Windows 2008, Teamsite 732, OD 732.
I am executing iwodcmd from workflow CGI task. The CGI is being called from a worklfow that was created by WFM.

"Locating OpenDeploy service. Got OpenDeploy service ***ERROR - Caught exception in runIt(). Details: REQUEST_DENIED Please check that the OpenDeploy server is running. "

odbase log gives me the following error:

2013-04-03 15:39:52.991 GMT-0500 serverLog [Thread-10] - CLT: Allowing execution from 127.0.0.1/127.0.0.1
2013-04-03 15:39:53.051 GMT-0500 serverLog [RMI TCP Connection(27)-10.62.48.227] - API: Cannot find user NT AUTHORITY\ESAPPT135$ in any OpenDeploy roles . Request app: APP_ODRMICLT

I did try out the couple of things as part the debugging process.

1) compared passphrase files betwen TS and OD, it looks good.
2) I updated the following flags in deploy.cfg , and it didnt help.
Deploy.cltProxyEnable: n
Deploy.cltProxyAuthCheck: n
3) I executed the same command (constructed int he CGI) from command line, and it works.

Any help debugging this is appreciated.

It looks like TeamSite is configured to run with a process owner of "NT AUTHORITY\ESAPPT135$" and it hasn't been configured as an OD Admin.

More likely - you want to run the deployment as "you" - so you need to make sure that the CGI script is located directly within IWHOME/httpd/iw-bin (no sub-directories) and that the URL you use for it is: /iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi/your_script_name.ipl (or .cgi, whichever)

Thanks for the quick response. We were able to make it work by adding "NT AUTHORITY\ESAPPT135$" as below.
iwodauthorize.bat -r add od-admin "NT AUTHORITY\ESAPPT135$"

The issue is resolved, but we are trying understand more about this account - "NT AUTHORITY\ESAPPT135$".

- Is NT AUTHORITY a group?
- ESAPPT135 - is a name of the host (server), does installation create an account by that server name?
- Where can we locate this account on the server?
- Is it created by TS or OD installation?
- We had 671 SP1 and we didnt encounter this account before. Is it something new in 7.3.2?

Further details about this account is helpful. We appreciate your help.

check TeamSite/local/config/lib/content_center/livesite_customer_src/etc/conf/livesite_customer/opendeploy.properties

There is a user defined opendeploy.proxyUserName that is set at install

This is what I have on the properties file.
opendeploy.proxyUserName=ESAPPT135\\990353

990353 is a local admin account on ESAPPT135 server.

The one that I added as od-admin to make it work is "NT AUTHORITY\ESAPPT135$"

iwodauthorize.bat -r add od-admin "NT AUTHORITY\ESAPPT135$"

Look in the Services panel for the TeamSite / iwserver process - view the details / properties of it - and see if it specifies the owner of the process.

My guess is that it does not say "iwts" or "iwui" - but rather provides for a system account - Furthermore, I'm guessing that the account is the standard Admin account renamed for security purposes.

This is all guess work - but I think it fits the description of the issue.

Did you try to change the URL for the CGI task as I previously suggested?

Yes - add the wrapper - that should make the CGI run as the task owner rather than the process owner.

I removed the user from od-admin role: [NT AUTHORITY\ESAPPT135$] and tried with the following url (with the CGI wrapper) from the CGI task in WFM

"/iw-bin/iw_cgi_wrapper.cgi/my_script_name.ipl"

It didnt help.

I originally had - "my_script_name.ipl"

Both of seem to be same, throwing the same error.

I am adding the user back again, just to make it work for now.

I have opened a ticket with support to seek more information.
