Hi,

I want to save the list of DCR's without actually opening them in the edit mode.

Please note that these are already existing DCR's and i want to call Save event of Form api from external command/clt.

What's your Use Case?

Note that FormAPI is a Java Script Package. As far as TS is concerned, JS gets evaluated by your local Browser
and nothing else. Thus, you have to open Browser Windows (whether visible or not to the End-user) in order to use
FormAPI.

I am aware of above facts , i was asking how do i call the save event. Can't we have any single command, program to do this for me?

Ok, I thought I was clear... Let me try again.

No, you absolutely can not call DCR's FormAPI Method "without [...] opening them in the edit mode".
The reason is that it is only the Browser that evaluates JS that evaluates FormAPI that executes your
custom functions. All this activity is possible only on open Browser Window.

You can in theory code a program that traverses certain data directories on the Server side, executes
Browser on the fly to open up each DCR in the edit mode and either calls "Save" Event handler
function or fakes required "Save" Event. That said, better you than me.

Thus the question, what is your use case? What is the problem you are trying to solve?

I believe we write a program to open the edit windows and then fire the save event.

Let me put this like : Can we pass the Save event name in the Below url ?

You're not answering ISCBorisB's question. Why do you need to do this? Why do you need to call the SaveEvent?

Is there something that in the DCT via FormAPI or other javascript that you are looking to run?

Are you just looking to have a save performed in order to change the status of the file?

Are you trying to have the files show a certain persons name on the edit?

If it's one of the last two, then there are other ways to do this. Some as simple as just editing the timestamp via a script from the filesystem side.

If you answer the question of "why do you need to do this". Then we may be able to provide you with a better solution than what you are trying.

Formally you can pass anything to any URL. However, JSP that is mapped to "launch_edit_form" Command (you should
probably use supported CC "Edit" Command instead of this hack) recognizes to the best of my knowledge just two
parameters, "vpath" and "done_page". Anything else is simply ignored.

What you can probably do instead is to create some "master" window and pass "Edit" Windows' handlers to it. From the
"Main" then you can use plain JS to identify Edit's api Frame and execute your custom "force Save" callback Method
on the "Edit" Window. Note that "master" Window should have the same Domain as the "Edit" Window in order for all that
to work. I've once illustrated something similar in [thread=20694]this thread[/thread], take a look (Note that the "master" there is another DCR).

That said, whatever your issue is an idea to make "bulk save" through Browser is IMO extremely questionable.
Even if you can pull this off (that's a big if!) performance will be pathetic from either Client or Server threads.
