Is there any way to use FormAPI to end a workflow job from the instantiation screen?

I have an error field that on change I would like to end the workflow job.

The FormAPI library is not available workflows.

What is you reason for trying to close the instantiantion screen? If you expound upon your question we may be able to provide a solution.

What version of TeamSite are you using?

Are you using WFM or WFT?

I will assume you are using WFM (hence the question about FormAPI and the instantiation screen).

You could have a hidden field that gets set to some value to either allow or disallow the actual instantiation of the job (depending on how you code it) and thus display an error message in such cases where you don't want to allow the instantiation.

My preference would be to use a CGI Task as a start task, and do the evaluation of whether you allow the job to continue there. If there are no problems, you can transition to the next task without bringing up a window. If there are problems, you can display an informative error window and transition directly to the End Task.

if you do not have any configurable, data source, or review task in your workflow and file_comments option is false, then workflow instantiation screen will not appear as there will be no input to capture from user.

Well, the workflow hasn't been instantiated yet, so there is no workflow to end. Just close the window?

Or, just have a hidden field that you make required when you don't want the user to start the workflow. Just alert them why you don't want them to start the workflow and ask them to close the window themselves.
