parsing xml file

I am trying to get the deeper nodes and a values of a field . The deeper field is inside a replicant container with an and combination with sever other containers.
so when i hard code the field inside my code it still throws an error. can anyone point me where I was going wrong.

Based on the above - your DCR looks something like:[html]

[/html] Is that reasonably accurate? If not, it would help for us to see a sample of the DCR code (perhaps an attachment)

The only thing that I can truly comment on with the posted code is that this:

my $xml = "";
open DCR, "$dcr";
while (<DCR>) { $xml .= $_; } 
close DCR;

is rather lacking in robustness and inefficient and would be better implemented as:

open DCR, "$dcr" || die(" '$dcr' ($!)");
my $xml = do { local $/; <DCR>};
close DCR;

As also mentioned, it would probably be helpful to see the error message too.

Just few days ago I got the success to parse an XML and Earlier I tried with the TeamSite::XMLparser but it was throwing an error so I used
use XML: Smiley Very Happy

OM;
use XML: Smiley Frustrated

imple;
And able to get XML parse correctly.
Use in this fashion:

$parser = new XML: Smiley Frustrated

imple;
$rootnode = $parser->XMLin($xml);
@reps= $rootnode->{product};

I can give you exact code if you share your xml structure and as well as your exact requirement means what nodes you want to fetch.

Print out your $xml. I expect it is not being loaded.

When I ran it with your data I saw:

Parsing itself *seems* to be correct. That said, if you perform operations that may routinely fail
(like open or parse) you absolutely must check operation status. Granted, it will not solve your
problem but at least you will see what the problem really is.

I tried this, and operational status didn't work either. It got inside the loop and gave an empty result. Any other pointers please.

Yours is definately working Andy, but I cannot hard code the xml, I did try tweeking it and put in the path to the xml/DCR, it gives me an error saying that it is the node on which get_node_list is working on is not defined.

This works perfectly fine, through i have to tweak it a lot to move forward. I was trying to get DCRparser to work rather than XMLparser. Just to implement this this internal to the tpl, but i guess i have to live with it and I am planning to move my implementation all the way into Workflows external task.

Understood, but I was using the code you posted. So it that parsed the XML correctly, the error was somewhere else.
