Error in adding files to workflow

Hi all,

In my workflow I have a cgi task to attach files to the workflow.To attach files I tried with both $task->AddFile() method and iwaddtaskfile command.If I try to attach up to 1000 files to my workflow, it will execute successfully.
If I try to attach more than 1500 files it will take some time and showing an error message like "Internal Server Error".Is their any limitation to attaching files to workflow.
Please give a solution to attach large amount of files to workflow

The problem is that you are doing this with a CGI Task [in perl] and that you are most likely running into an HTTP timeout issue.

You could try adjusting the HTTP timeout parameter (I forget where this is done, but it has been posted about so you might be able to 'search' for it in the forums) - or - you could use an External Task to add the files and then, if needed, a CGI Task to review the process once that's done --or-- a CGI Task to prompt for information about what directories to search through for files to attach to the job and then an External Task to actually perform the operation (optionally followed by a CGI Task to display the results)

Note - running a CGI Task after an External Task will never run "immediately"

Another alternative might be to use Java / CSSDK - the code may be a lot more efficient for adding files to the job (since it wouldn't have to invoke a separate shell process for a CLT for each addition) - and then you might be able to do the whole thing within the CGI Task [java] program.

All of the above is somewhat theoretical since you don't really explain why you find the need to programmatically attach thousands of files to a job. There might be a better alternative depending on the actual requirements.
