How to call a DOS command of another machine using PERL

Hi,
I have to run a batch script in perl and my batch script is on another machine. Is there any way by which I can call a command of the command prompt of another machine. Or Can I run a DOS command in perl calling the other machine?
Any kind of help is appreciated. Smiley Happy

I am not sure how you wish to use the perl (via workflow external task, inside tpl, from custom menu, inside DCT using FormAPI, etc) but you can call your bat file using the following perl inside one of those things.

my $mycommand= "c:\\blah.bat";
#run command and get output
my $mycommandoutput = qx/$mycommand/;

The question is here using perl to run remote machine dos command.

Your answer is shows as running dos command in the same machine.

Since he's running DOS commands and is on a Windows platform your solution won't work for him. Not unless he installs an SSH server. Your solution will only work for linux, unix or solaris.

Google is of course a wonderful thing but you have to be careful and check your ground before re-posting code you found there.

Coding Errors aside (sample has them, tiny as it is), you are making quite a few assumptions here. Let's see...
1. Secure Shell (ssh, ssh2, whatever) is installed and configured on the Target machine
2. Caller machine is an allowed SSH Client with all proper settings (ports/protocols open, ssh[2] profiles set etc)
3. Caller Perl has SSH Modules to instantiate SSH Client

Sure enough, Richu did not bother to indicate his Platform. Judging by terminology though he's on Windows. If that's the
case, all three assumptions above are (typically) wrong. It is of course possible to configure all this stuff but that's
far less trivial than typing few lines of Perl code

So, you do not any longer like your own advice to use SSH? What happened?

Either or both SSH and Telnet can be installed/configured on UNIX/Linux/Windows, what have you.
Protocols have their unique peculiarities and coding issues. Telnet IMO is more primitive and harder
to use than SSH. As to Perl, Net: Smiley Frustrated

SH and Net::Telnet are there to use these protocols ( not in iwperl though )

As I already said, it is far less trivial than typing few lines of Perl code
