Can we strore the DCRs created out of a particular DCT in a folder other than the data folder; probably outside the templatedata folder itself?

Mostly no. You can rename the templatedata to something else (server wide), you must have the category/type/data folders and can make folders underneath.

Try telling your boss / customer that just because they "require" something doesn't mean it's going to happen. FormsPublisher will only recognize DCRs as DCRs if they are within the templatedata/category/datatype/data/ folder (or sub-folders within) - period.

You could have a process that copies the DCRs somewhere else, duplicating the files, confusing things, etc. but I wouldn't recommend it. Instead, you should think of (and get your customer to think of) the data/ directory as being the DCR docroot directory just like the root of the workarea is generally the [generated] content docroot directory - any subdirectories you use for generated content within the root of the workarea, should also exist within the data/ directory - but the data/ directory needs to stay where it is, and the DCRs need to stay within it.

True, but the location of the templating files is global. Leonakit would have to do that in all Branches where
templating is used. Good perhaps upfront for the brand new TS instance but not something I would recommend
for the existing installation with History, submit/proxy configurations and dozens of regexes all over

Well, the original post was specific to a branch (and I did make the point that this was a system wide change). Leonakit asked how to do it and I answered, never said it was a good idea. Might this be a big old can of worms ? Yea. Is it our problem. Well, no. :-)

I certianly hope Leonakit thinks about the implications of making this change.

Maybe I don't understand your question, but that's what the "Save As" button in the DCT is for.

After new form entry i want to save that file under data/folder(sub directory) by clicking 'save' button.But in my case it was saved in data folder only and also suppose i am editing a file under under sub-directory by clicking 'save' it was saved in data folder?
can you please provide me a solution?

It sounds like your FormAPI code is explicitly calling setDCRName() even for editing existing records, and passing in a parameter that doesn't contain any subfolder names. For new forms, the save operation would normally bring up a dialog that allows the user to select the subfolder in which they want to save the file. If you don't see that dialog, you must be setting the dcr name in code. There must've been a reason for doing that (and I'm guessing you didn't write it since you seem unaware of it), so ask the person that wrote it and/or double check your business requirements before changing it.

No, it is not saved under data directory if you are editing it from a data/sub-direcotry, it will save in the same location where you started editing.

By default it saves under data direcotry if you don't create sub directories under 'data' and select it while you saving it first time. This is basic procedure of saving files everywhere in computer world.

As Rick mentioned you could have form api which might be stopping that and forcing to save under data directory, you need to check the form api scripting.

I had given ViewOptions as auto dcr name true thats why I am not able to save DCR in any sub folder under data folder and making that attribute false it worked for me.
