OD Status - SocketTimeoutException

Hi,
Our OD Base is running on the following setup
Solaris 10
Teamsite 671 SP1
OD 620.

Sometimes OD deployments are hanging and the OD status check the following:

OpenDeploy server host: localhost, RMI registry port: 9173
***ERROR - Caught exception in IWDeployCLTMain.runIt(). Details: error during JRMP connection establishment; nested exception is:
java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out
Please check that the OpenDeploy server is running.

I tried to figure out the reason but no success. Please help and throw some light on the issue.

what do you mean when you say "Sometimes" what files are you deploying? Did you try deploying the basic test.xml? did it go through? Are you running OD from GUI, CLT or Workflow? if so which one fails and which one works? To answer you question more digging is needed.

The files are deployed via workflow. Business activities are as usual and lot of deployements are going through workflow without a problem. Suddenly one deployement hangs in halfway irrespective of the type of files/deployment. It is happening atleast once in two days.

Yesterday, when we check the status (iwodserverstatus) we came across the posted error. Otherwise, it shows the current deployment for long time and nothing happens.

Then we need to stop and restart the OD. After that the deployments are running properly without a problem until we face the same again.

Can you check any peculiarity with the failed deployments in terms of number of files attached, large files, deleted files/folder, etc.

Check your receiver logs too, they should give you more detail about failure.

- Are there any errors in od.log or in deployment micro logs?

- Does the hanged deployment fail itself, or are you canceling the deployment/resetting OD after some time?

- As you're saying the deployment hangs intermittently, check if you see the below error in micro logs. If yes, then I think you should enable pathRegistryChecking feature on OD receivers.
