IWItem.setReadOnly Teamsite issue

Hi ,

I am trying to to use IWItem.setReadOnly(true) and it works fine , now the issue is that when i click on the text field and to enter any value i am not able to but if i press back space thefull dcr gets blank . it there any way i can stop the user from clicking on the text field ones its set to readonly

is there any alternative way ?

Could you explain the reason why you are making the field as read only?

1. Are you making this field as readonly based on some conditional checking?
2. Are you displaying any default values in field?
3. Can you use hidden field instead?
