Work Flow Instantiator fail

Hi,

When I try to choose 300 files to submit to a work flow, it takes long time and then shows a failure on the page, but no detailed information.

When I try to choose 200 files to submit to the same work flow, it works.

Can anyone tell me the reason, or where to check the error message?

Pretty typical of TeamSite. While there is no actual max documented, the rule of thumb is to only submit up to 100 at a time. Some of this also depends on whether your workflow generates and adds new files, or adds attachments that the dcr may be references. This can make your 100 files turn into more than 100.

Yeah, but you said there is no maximum limit. This is on the step before workflow started, while it actually on the initiation process. So, it shouldn't before an error of work flow.

During instantiation it is adding the list of files to your workflow. All 300 of them. Which "can" be too much for the system to handle. You willl see that all the files are in the html in hidden fields if you do a view source of the instantiation window. Some of this also depends on the code in your WFT and what it is doing to pre-process the files. It could also be that your browser is having an issue with rendering the instantiation window, try another browser. You have to look at what your workflow file is doing on instantiation to determine how much work it's doing.

Does your workflow instantiation form provide a textarea for comments on each file attached to the job?
If so - this could be the reason for timing out - it's trying to render a huge HTML page. If you disable that functionality, and only prompt for a job description (and whatever else you need to prompt for) - it might work a bit better.

Also - make sure that you have the setting in your iw.cfg file to NOT add files to the command line for externaltasks (look in iw.cfg.example for more information on this).
