How to programatically create metadata relationship for DCR and output file?

I have thousands of files for which I plan to have the DCRs generated programatically in the /templatedata/ directory. Is it possible to programatically assign the metadata relationship between the DCR and the ouput file? What I'm trying to avoid is going into TeamSite and manually generating the output files.

Yes it is possible and this is actually very common.
If I understand you correctly, you have output files (let s say HTML files) and you want to populate DCRs from the html files? you would do something like this:
1) Populate the DCR and place it in the correct location /templatedata/category/dataType/data/
2) Set DCR EA TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type using iwextattr CLT (see iwextattr usage) so TS will recognized it as a DCR
3) set Output file EAs for example:
TeamSite/Templating/PrimaryDCR: DCRName.xml
TeamSite/Templating/PrimaryDocumentType: pages/article
TeamSite/Templating/PrimaryPT: article.xsl

That is the typical DCR-Output file relationship, I don't know if you have any other requirements such as DCR containing info about the corresponding output file?
