odinst param with ootb publish livesite workflow

We plan to use independent OpenDeploy instances (base server) for executing deployments from various projects in our setup. One of the projects is using the out-of-box deploy Publish LiveSite workflow and the deploy task packaged with it.

We are running into issues with configuring the Deploy tasks to support the -odinst parameter. OOTB, it uses the 'default' instance of OpenDeploy.

One option is to replace the PLS deploy tasks with custom deployment tasks but I would prefer to minimize any changes at this point in time (we are going live in next few weeks). Is there a workaround or an undocumented way that we can use to get this working? Any suggestions/pointers?

Since you're asking for modifications to an OOTB "feature" you pretty much have to do it yourself.

Make a copy of the WFM. Make a copy of the script or class (if available) being used by the WFM to perform the deployment - modify/document/test (repeat as needed).

If it is using a java class and you don't have access to the source for that class - it's both easier and harder. Easier because you don't have to worry about making a copy and modifying someone else's code; Harder because you have to write the whole thing yourself.
