Save As while in existing DCR and hitting next results in two DCRs getting attached

When a user opens an existing DCR and then does a Save As and give it a new name then clicks "Finish" and goes through the process to create a Job it attaches both the original "unedited" DCR and the new DCR to the workflow. I checked and the original doesn't show it as being edited. I don't want the original DCR attached to the new workflow, just the new DCR with the new name. This seems to have popped up on 6.7.2. It did not happen in the past.

I could write something in the wft to removed unedit files, but was looking for maybe a config change or something. Does it happen in sp2 or version 7? If not, then I can let the users know what it's fixed in upcoming versions. Anyone else noticed this issue and have any solution for it?

Which WF are you using? Sounds like a cutom WF task.

It is a custom workflow. It uses __ELEM__('iw_file') to get the file list. What seems to have have changed is that the original DCR that the user opened up is now being sent with that list, even though it is unedited. I am mostly wondering if this changed back in sp2 or version 7. I am not really looking to add a routine to check if the file is unedited at this time. If it's fixed in future editions of TeamSite then I will just have them remove the DCR from the workflow manually, or have them perform an Edit/Copy and create a new DCR until I upgrade to the SP or version 7.

Sounds like there is some custom logic here that you'll have to analyze. Perhaps some metadata that is set somewhere that has references to both (new and old) DCRs.

Nope, no meta data being saved to the DCR. Like I mentioned, the DCR does not show it as being edited at any time, even after it's in the workflow. I imagine that someone request this as a feature and it was added. But I don't need the original file.

Sure -- fair enough. All I am saying is that it sounds like a customization that you'll have to **** around with.

Here is what I came up with to add to my workflow code. It checks both the work area and the staging ares to see if the file exists, if so, then it checks the timestamp of both files against each other to see if the are different.

It does throw an error if all the dcr(s) attached are unmodified, but I can live with that since one of the files submitted by the user will be modified or new.

I believe you have a typo here:

...

Also you might be able to simplify this a bit with something like:

if (-M $file_in_staging == -M $file_in_workarea) {
    # files have the same timestamp
}
else {
    # files have different timestamps
}

Thanks for the catch on the typo. I've fixed the post so that others won't have an issue.

I'll also try your suggestion with the -M.
