Issue with Nested workflow

swatis

I have a nested workflow and facing an issue with the same, the problem occurs when in a text field i enter any phrase containing "comma". I have a text field named "pagename" which is also a job property, whenever i enter someting like (my,test) containing comma the value of the field in job properties for the parent task display it as it is (my,test), the task properties for the wftask display this field value as (my,test) but when this value is transmitted to the child workflow the value for this field appears as "Array(567x434)" means some kind of reference.

I have tried encoding the values, replacing comma with the corresponding code but no use still the child workflow reflects "Array refernce" as the value of the field.

I am working on TeamSite 7.1, windows server.

Please find the code attached for the parent wft and the child workflow. Parent wf is named as parent.wft and the child wft is named as Expedited.wft

I don't have plans to try and run your workflow, so I'm limited in the ability to see the behavior first-hand, but it seems like something, somewhere, is interpreting the comma as being an array-list separator so making sure that it gets properly encoded-decoded right from the beginning is probably your best bet.

I'd consider stuffing the value in to a perl variable and then using that variable everywhere else you are using __TAG__('PageName') - e.g. something like:

(my $pagename = __VALUE__('PageName')) =~ s|,|x_x|gsm;
...
<variable name="PageName" value="$pagename"/>

Then, anywhere that you are planning on truly using the value, decode it back again:

(my $realPagename = $pagename) =~ s|x_x|,|gsm;

(the above are very simplistic examples, modify as needed for your usage).

Now - why a "page name" would have a comma in it is another question, but one that I won't bother to pursue here as the issue could potentially arise with any variable whose value contains a comma being passed from one workflow to another.
