Workflow that can export out / upload DCR

Hi,

We're using WFM on TS 7. Currently our website's content is DCR in XML format and needs to be translated into some other languages.

Was wondering if it's possible to create a workflow for a scenario like this:

User creates content.xml --> send to workflow to send out to another different system (similar to email with attachment) --> translator download the content.xml to translate --> upload it back to send back to TS --> publish.

From my limited knowledge, this can't be done because it's sending out to the outside of TS control, and if files are upload back..what will happen to the EAs? Or am I wrong? Are there any other ideas on how to achieve this?

If the file already exists / existed in TS with the proper EAs and then is copied over (by import or other process) - I believe the original EAs remain intact (you should be able to easily test this theory)

Instead of sending it out, are you able to make any calls to the translator? Either via a simple javascript or perl http request in which you send out the data. Or some other method of making a connection to the translator to get the data for your fields in the DCR. You could do this on save, on change, or with a callout button, etc.

Tested this, and yes, the EAs are still there.

Do you mean that this process still remains in TS? Send out data of fields in the DCR means that I'm just providing the data, write it on another file & send out to the translator?

At the moment we haven't planned on any upgrade, but there is a workflow in the current process that we've customized to allow translator to access the DCR for editing. Now they want to change this by sending out the DCRs to translation system and upload back.
