Need help with a deployment

Hi. Im going to training next week in chicago so as of yet forgive me im still untrained.

However. We have a critical deployment that completes but doesnt do the update its supposed to do.

Im wondering if someone brilliant can help me track this down. When I go into opendeploy i look at the configuration xml and everything seems ok however one odd thing is that the former developer changed the pathname to the templatedata before he left. So i tried changing the path to what it should be and the deploy bombed. See the attached config. For example the path folder was renamed from TopNavigation to Navigation and im not sure how this is impacting the deployment or what significance the sql server database tables play in this. I noticed a table for main navigation and subnavigation. This deployment controls our website navigation menu at the top of the page at rochestermn.gov. Forgive me if ive left anything out this is one of those very frustrating things as were just trying to update a menu item.

well path should be relative and not absolute, "templatedata/Rochester/TopNavigation/data" and not "/templatedata/Rochester/TopNavigation/data" but I'm not sure this is your problem.

What about the logs and the comand line use to launch the deployment?

Can we take a look at the log file. if you can get us a logfile which looks something like this at your end. src.TopNavigation_dd_3511693.log

The logfile is attached.

We must be using datadeploy because I noticed in a table named CORMainNavigation the path column has a value of: /templatedata/Rochester/TopNavigation/data/topnavigation

But the actual folder name appears to be: /templatedata/Rochester/Navigation/data/topnavigation

Notice that TopNavigation is named Navigation on disk see screenshot.

But if I change the path field in the database to
/templatedata/Rochester/Navigation/data/topnavigation

The deployment fails. Please see attachments.

I cant find anything definitive in the log file. So far here is the only thing that has me suspicious.

The xml config file for the deployment has a path attribute of this:
path name="/templatedata/Rochester/TopNavigation/data

Were using datadeploy and the developer is using a MainNav, SubNav and NavFlyout tables to build a TopNavigation menu.

In each of those tables is a path column with the following value:
/templatedata/Rochester/TopNavigation/data/topnavigation

However somewhere along the line the developer renamed the TopNavigation folder to Navigation.

When I look at the logs the iwdd has always been equal "TopNavigation"

The end result of this is an asp file gets deployed. And that asp file updates the flyout menu. But it doesnt update.

When I run this deployment with parameter of iwdd = TopNavigation it completes but no update happens.

Ok so I update the subnav and subnavflyout path column to have the correct value of '/templatedata/Rochester/Navigation/data/topnavigation'

Run the deployment it finishes and wipes out all the records for subnav and subnavflyout...yikes. Obviously there is some connection with data deploy and it just wiped out our menu data.

Im not sure why.

I think you are mixing 2things here

iwdd = TopNavigation is the name of the deployment

when you are launching opendeploy you have to specify this deployment name for the simple reason that you could have like 10deployment in a file...it could have be toto,tululu....whatever you decide

but your

[/html]
is not correct, it should be
[html]

[/html]
