Hi All,

We are trying to convert the content store from a file system to SAN. Could any one help me out with the steps and best practices for this or point me to the right documentation?

What OS is involved?
Are you trying to just physically move the store or are you trying to use iwmigrate?

I am presuming what you mean is that you are going to convert from a filesystem on local drive to a filesystem on a SAN. For all intents and purposes, they can be considered the same thing ... it's just a matter of where they are pointing to. We have all our content stores on a SAN and it works fine (as long as you obey all the rules such as number of inodes, etc.).

As for the "converting" bit, you can just de-activate the stores you want to move, and then copy the store files and directories to the new location, change the path in iw.cfg, and re-activate. That's a simplistic view, but we have just done it for a 115Gb content-store that we have and it worked beautifully. The 'iwstoreadm' CLT is your friend.

Thanks for your response. My plan was to move the entire iw-store which contains 4 content stores. However I could achieve it by

1. Stop all the Interwoven services
2. Mount the SAN to a map-drive
3. Copy the iw-store to the newly mounted SAN drive
4. Update the registry entry to point the iw-store to the new location
5. Start all the Interwoven services

If you're dealing with a registry - that means Windows - right? Then you also want to take a look at KB 49040 [I believe] on the Support site.
In addition, since you will most likely be dealing with at least a few SID issues (for local disk users and/or groups), you should also look into the use of iwidmap (there are at least several KBs on this too).
