Removing Extra Tabs

Hi,

Recently we installed a new patch "Patch 9356 " on the top of TS 6.7.1 SP1,after the patch install ,the entire UI got changed as in three new tabs

"devnet,current user,writing guide" came into picture ,also "ajuba image" and some other css issues came up ,we were able to solve most of the issues except 3 extra tabs,

I modified the file ui_custom.xml located at "iw-home\local\config\lib\content_center\customer_src\etc\conf\customer"

and put the values

[/php]

after that i ran make_toolkit.ipl ,the build was successful but tab was still there ,i got the tabID from ui_custom.xml located at reference folder,can some one pls tell if I am using wrong ID or some other mistake is there and how can remove those 3 extra tabs?

Looking forward for some guidance from experts,

When your ran the make_toolkit.ipl where you in iw-home\local\config\lib\content_center\customer_src? You're supposed to run it from that location.

Thanks for your prompt reply ,I ran from correct directory as per your comments ,i just read something in UI PDF page 42

"Custom tabs can be added to the ContentCenter Professional tabset. Interwoven-supplied
tabs cannot be moved, inserted into, or deleted, though their labels can be customized."

by this logic ,is it not possible to remove 3 extra tabs added through patch install ?

I just saw that too. Looks like you have to contact support and have them help you out.

Funny thing is, the tabs you are describing can be found here.

local\config\lib\content_center\customer_samples_src\etc\conf\customer_samples\ui_custom.xml

Making it appear like you were running the make_toolkit.ipl from that location.

What does your local\config\lib\content_center\toolkits.xml file look like?
Is there an entry for the iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_samples that shouldn't be there?

Hi,

Yes ,i got 3 tab ids from the same file you are referring ,then i put them in ui_custom.xml located at correct location ,then ran make_toolkit.ipl,

i think previosuly these 3 tabs were to be added optionally ,but with this new patch "9356 " they are added by default,so looks like we can't really remove them,

i guess we will have to contact support becasue these 3 tabs will confuse normal users and I was planning to remove them ,

You don't want those tabs in your customer_src ui_custom.xml file, take them back out. Then remove the the line you mentioned below from your toolkits.xml file (that's where these tabs are coming from )and re-run make_toolkit.ipl and see if it goes away.

Hi,

I did the following steps:-

1.reverted back to original ui_custom.xml

2.modified toolkits.xml and removed the unwanted line

3.ran make_toolkit.ipl

the tabs are still there ,i think this may have got to do with page 42 explanation but my only doubts is that recently i installed 6.7.2 on some other server ,even there these tabs are not there so how come they are mandatory on patch install ,?

After doing that what does your httpd\webapps\content_center\META-INF\toolkits.xml look like? Is that line in there? If so, then see below.

If it is ever needed to force the complete rebuilding of the ContentCenter web
application from the source files:
1. Change directory to iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src.
2. Issue iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl iw-home/bin/make_toolkit.ipl -target
clobber.
This will remove the previously built version of the toolkit.
3. Issue iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl iw-home/bin/make_toolkit.ipl

I suggest you [also] look at the UICG manual - specifically the section entitled "Removing the Customer Samples Toolkit"

thanks a ton,I rebuild the whole source tool kit,all three tabs,ajuba image,css issues gone together ,
