SitePublisher Edit mode issue

Hi All –

We recently migrated from TS version 6.7.2 to TS 7.1. An issue that got introduced with this upgrade is: css and javascript files do not “render” in SitePublisher when the page is opened in “edit” mode. I mean, in SitePublisher, when I open a page to edit it, the css is not applied. However, when I preview the page in SitePublisher, it displays fine. Any suggestions?

We have opened a case with IWOV support, but we are heading towards no where. Has anybody else faced this issue?

We tested with a new site, simple css, but the issue stays. This rules out issue in css itself.

Did it work in SitePub on your 6.7.2 install?

The only things I can think of is either you're including your CSS dynamically (JS doesn't run in Edit mode ever, because of the obvious conflicts with the JS of the edit mode itself) OR your CSS was based on rules that don't apply in Edit mode. Remember that the markup in Edit mode looks radically different than the preview/final view (mostly adding a whole bunch of divs), so rules that are too specific about which elements are children of which, then they won't work.

I'd suggest using a tool like Firebug to carefully inspect the HTML structure of your page in Edit mode, and that should help you figure out 1) whether your CSS file is being included at all, and 2) whether the rules should still apply to the different structure.

Hi,

It did work in TS 6.7.2.

We are including css at the site level and not dynamically using js. We tried to apply the simplest css possible on the page and it did not help.

Ok, so it sounds like the CSS file isn't being referenced at all. I'm puzzled by how it would work in preview mode though. I'm still thinking it must have something to do with the differing markup.

Did you try using Firebug? It would be pretty quick to see whether it loads your css file at all.

How are you adding the CSS? Is a global resource you added on the site or did you add it in the page settings?

Make sure it's in the enabled section if it's either one of these. As someone pointed out, also check with FireBug and see if the css is being served to the browser.

Css is included at the site level and not the page level. It is in the enabled section.

We are facing similar issue on our TeamSite 7.3.2.

CSS files are not loading in edit-mode where as in preview page loads the css and nothing breaks.

Is it a known issue ?

Does anybody know the fix for it?

Note: This is an issue only with IE (version 8 and 9) browser whereas in Mozilla it works fine.

As it is a known thing that JS doesn't work in edit mode. That's the reason why the page is not rendering properly.

The given may page using html5 tags which is not supported in ie9 and below. so we need to add html5 JS file to make it work. As you are using JS it is not working edit mode. when we preview it the JS file which add the html5 tags support to ie9 and below so css renders properly
