Read and Write XLS

HI All,

Could some one explain me how to read and write xls using PERL?
Here I am able to read the XLS sheet but I am not able to update the same XLS sheet using WriteExcel object.I am using below perl modules

use Spreadsheet: Smiley Tongue

arseExcel;
use Spreadsheet::WriteExcel;

Environment:
Teamsite 6.7.1
Solaris.

As you haven't done so - all I can suggest is that you look at Spreadsheet::WriteExcel::Examples

Actually my requirement is parse the XLS sheet and update same XLS column with new data.
Here I want to know how to open XLS in read and write mode.

I'm not sure the API allows opening for both read and write simultaneously. You could try opening it with two different file handles (one for read, one for write) but it would probably be safer doing it sequentially: open for read, retrieve the information you need to retrieve then close it; open it for write, update what you need to update then close it.
