Network share performance

Hi All,

We are currently running TS 6.7.1 SP1 on windows 2003 with around 150 concurrent users with each user having a separate workarea. All of the users access teamsite via network share \\teamsite-server\...
Since the active concurrent users has increased there is a slow performance on the network share on the client machines.

Has anyone encountered like this before and is there any recommended settings on TeamSite or on the OS level?

Any help is appreciated.

Are the teamsite users OS users?
Do you have 150 workareas or more under one branch? or, is it like total number of workareas equals total number of teamsite users but distributed under different branches?

These are all OS users and all the 150 workareas are under one branch. Everyday almost most of the users go for a get latest and since the store is like 40gb it's affecting the perfomance of the network share. Any thoughts or ideas on this.

What is being maintained in this branch? Content? Source code (excluding DCTs, PTs, FormAPI)? Both?

I ask, because if you're only maintaining content - then you're generally much better off using a single shared workarea. No GetLatest's needed, no merges required, etc.

The store is basically used to store XML files. It's technical publication book split into multiple smaller XML's. TeamSite is just used a repository for an external editor, so each user owns a specific workarea. I did warn them about have multiple workareas but they designed this product even before I joined.
