how to set value in a dct from an ipl file?

Hi,

How can I set the value of textarea which has to be populated from a callout item.

In the FORMAPI I have the following code...

Can Someone suggest, How can I set the value of the callout item in FORMAPI? I am passing the value to accumulate function..But it is not working...

Looks like you're working with the example in the documentation.

Since you haven't given us the entire extent of your code it's hard to help you out, but are you doing a form refresh?

getScriptFrame is in version 6's documentation, but not in version 7 (at least I can't find it)

I have an item called Metadata with callout label "Groups"

and in the Javascript or FORMAPI..OnCallout is handled in the following way:

This would call a sample.ipl file and in the sample.ipl I have Two Multiselect Boxes...The values in the first Multiselect box are populated from a textfile.
Two Buttons Add>> Remove>> to Add and Remove the options.
Finally "Finish" Button This should set the value of the item with the values in second MultiselectBox.I am attaching the perl file below.I couldn't set the the values of the item.

Unless you have a function called accumulate you should change your code to look like the following.

{
calloutForm.elements.value = selectedValue;

// parent.getScriptFrame().accumulate(selectedValue); //accumulate is a handler//

calloutElementFound = true;
break;
}
[/PHP]

If you're just populating your text field, then you don't need to call another javascript function to populate your field.

If you want to add your own custom function (ie accumulate), then it should either be in a script tag on the DCR or an external js file. Then you could use the code below and keep your parent.getScriptFrame().accumulate(selectedValue); line which passes your value from the ipl file back to the FormAPI which then takes over populating the field.

I couldn't get the value of "$element_name" is null and is not entering the loop.
How can I pass name of the item which called this url?
Can someone please suggest...

Look at the code in IWHOME/httpd/iw-bin/show_env.ipl

In your perl code - "borrow" the show_env code but change it to dump all the information into a log file.

Then - look at that log file while you rewrite your code and utilize FormAPI's getScriptFrame() to access the actual field you want to set the value on.

The code you're currently using was from a pre-FormAPI example that has, unfortunately, remained in the distribution ever since.

Now I understand what you are trying to do.

The following should work for you. You might want to add some of the error handling back in that I removed, but for now, this will work.

window.opener.accumulate(selectedValue); //accumulate is a handler//

This was tested in IE 6.

You can also get rid of ?XPath=" + item.getName() form your code as you don't seem to be using it.
