LSCS how to retrieve metadata (TS7.1, LS7.1)

I was going through this post

and it says in 7.1 we do not have to do any customization to retrieve the metadata.

I have created a DCR, tagged it with some metadata and deployed using OOTB PLC to both development and production node.

I see that DCR is deployed to LCSS authoring store but I could not find where the metadata is deployed to. My expectation was that metadata will be available in the DB which has IW_ASSET, IWCONT_CATEGORY, IWCONT_CONTENT table but it is not.

In content metadata logs all metadata attributes seems to be identified but the insertion happens something like:

DBD: INSERT:INSERT INTO iw_asset(ast_id,ast_locale,ast_branch,ast_relative_path,ast_creation_date,ast_expiration_date,ast_last_modified_date,ast_last_modified_user) VALUES (?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?)

Please let me know what I am missing.

To get the dcr do:

http://[server]/[context]/v1/document/path/templatedata/... finish path to dcr.

We have a preview server and a dcr for a location called killeen so the url for us would be:
http://lscsqa:8080/lscs/v1/document/path/templatedata/www/location/data/Killeen

Just add $* to the end to see the metadata it then looks like:
http://lscsqa:8080/lscs/v1/document/path/templatedata/www/location/data/Killeen$*

If there is no metadata set then the question is how are you setting the metadata on the file? I think if you use the tagUI it should work but I am not sure. We did not use the tagUI to set the metadata and had to create a Workflow task that calls StartDeployment.trigger. In task we had to create the manifest and pass it into the trigger method. The LiveSite Content Services Technical Reference Guide has the most info on how to do this (Chapter 5 Deployment section). Some Open Deploy knowledge never hurt either.
