Reading extended attributes of DCR's in livesite runtime

Hello,

I have DCR XML's deployed to my livesite runtime. I would like to read the extended attributes for these XML's which are deployed in my livesite runtime environment.

Any pointers on how to achieve this will be highly appreciated!!!

What version of LS are you on? Anything pre-7, you'll have to deploy your custom EAs to your runtime environment and read them from there. By default, EAs are internal "metadata" for TS and they are not deployed to runtime.

With 7+ version of "whole" LS suite, this is OOTB. Your EAs are available in runtime.

Only way u can acheive this, to use data deploy and store extended attributes of the file/dcr to the DB.
Write the external component in such a way that it picks up the record from the DB Table

Okay! That sounds like a good solution. However, is there any other way we can achieve this without using the data deploy. We are currently not using data deploy in our set up and would prefer to do it without getting into the data deploy stuff.

Well, since you would be doing this as part of a workflow process, you could write your own script / program using Perl DBI or Java JDBC, etc. and do it that way - it puts the onus on you to write the code correctly.
