page template not accessible

Hi,

I am using Teamsite 7.1.
I am creating a a page template based on a fixed-layout. I have created a layout(my home page) and placed it under iw/config/fixed-layout folder.

I created a template by choosing page type as "Default HTML" and layout type as "my home page". After this I submitted this template to staging.

Now when I go to the site and creating a new page then This template is not appearing in the template section of the new page creation screen.

Please guide me if anything else is required.

You seem to be confusing two different concepts. Layouts and templates are NOT the same thing. Read the docs to find the difference.

Your file under /iw/config/fixed-layout is a *layout* and will therefore not appear under the available *templates*.

Hi,

I know that both are not the same thing. I am creating the layout first then I am creating a template based on that layout.

But when you create a template it asks for the page type and I select any option other than "Site default" in order to choose any layout.

Once I finish with template creation, I submit this to staging.

Then I go to the specific website for which I have created the template and trying to create a new page. At this time I am expecting the template to appear in the available templates. But its not appearing Smiley Sad

Please let me know if someone has faced this situation in TS 7.1.

The "new page" wizard has its fields ordered in a way that's not very intuitive. You should be able to first select your layout and then see the template options for that layout appear in the field above.
