Teamsite - Media Bin Connector Error

Hi,

I am using TS 7.1 and Virage Mediabin.

PLease check the error in the attachment.

The problem is everything is working perfectly (both media bin and Teamsite). But when i try to use the images in MB from TS it gives me this error.

Point to be noted:- I am not getting this error more often. Every 2-3 days I will be getting this error and after some hours it gets fixed automatically.

So is there a solution for this.

Is this actually affecting any functionality? I've seen this in v7 of the platform and I suspect that it's a fairly innocuous bug in the system. The MB web services API was applied to a brand new Virage engine (which is why the Virage WS API is still there too) so I think Autowoven still have a few kinks left to work out. I wouldn't worry about it unless other things are breaking elsewhere.

It is actually affecting the buisness. We are not able to upload images on a realtime.

We are having a workaround in place by directly importing the IMAGES into TS and then using it.

But on a long run there is no point for using MB if this error continues (not this is frequently happening). We have opened a support case with Autonomy.

I found few KB relating thins on support site but they were pretty old (dated 2006-07).

In 7.1 the ECM connector comes as a package. We are also not able to find some config files which were earlier there.For example BrowseServlet.java. I am attaching an old KB (not much useful though as the entire file structure has changed) but It will be helpful if any one can please help me in finding the config files (BrowseServlet.java).

I am using UNIX

Any help on this is highly appreciated.

AFAIK, the config for the ECM connector is no longer a plain XML file stored on the drive. It's been hidden away as a Java serialized object in some obscure file somewhere, so you're forced to edit the config via the Admin Console. As for hacking the Java code per that KB, I would think that that's very version-specific and does not apply to v7.1.

Are you sure you've eliminated all network-related possibilities? The fact that your problem is intermittent makes me wonder about that. Could be an over-eager virus scanner or packet sniffer on your network that's corrupting the data stream. Had that happen to me before where an Oracle packet sniffer on the network was killing the eventsubsystem (which was using an Oracle DB).

Now the issue is permanent. Its failing all the time. We have raised a support Ticket with Autonomy. According to their pre-analysis ECM connector needed to be upgraded to ECM 2.0 for MB 7.0. They are still analyzing the same. We have checked the system for any network related issues but found nothing.

Please explain more on the Oracle DB part you are talking about and what are the steps you took to resolve it. It might help.

We had found the packet sniffer answer to our problem mostly by accident. We were having an unrelated meeting about DB things and some DBA mentioned the packet sniffer in passing. It was then that we clued in that it was probably causing the problem. We had it ignore packets coming from TeamSite and the problem went away.

My point is that there's any number of things happening on your network that you may not be aware of, and even your network admins might not think anything of it until you ask a very pointed question.
