Who else if annoyed by Microsoft's use of the name "Team Site"

I sit next to the person in charge of our SharePoint intranet setup. It was just implemented last year. I keep hearing Team Site this and Team Site that. I wish Microsoft would have been more original. I also sit next to Oracle folks and listen to them talk about ATG this and that. I also work on ATG (Art Technology Group, a web framework) and they work on ATG (Oracle Application Technology Group).

what else would you have Microsoft name a site template that's meant to be use for a Team's site? Seems pretty descriptive to me for a name. Whereas, Interwoven IMO picked a pretty poor name for a product meant to be a WCMS.

Ambiguous acronyms/names are pretty common place in the vast majority of businesses.

I guess Interwoven's TeamSite does not have a space, while MS Sharepoint Team Site have a space?

It's kinda like someone talking about their i phone or their iphone. If there were two such separate products.

If Interwoven had patented the name TeamSite, would Interwoven be able to get some royalty from Microsoft for using the name TeamSite in their product? :-)

It is not patented (could not be) but it is a registered trademark. I was thinking of setting up a domain called teamsite-experts and learned very quickly I would be sued if I did. Now I do not know if the space matters or if AI does not want to get in a legal batter with MSFT (or maybe they are talking)

I noticed that TUCOWS owns the domain teamsite.com. I did not know they were in the domain name parking industry.
