TeamSite 7.2 Installation issue

Hi,

We are trying to install TeamSite 7.2 and other components on a freshly installed Solaris 10 x86 machine running Oracle 10g. When installing, the selection checkboxes are not available to install Teamsite. When hovered over, it gives the following status message
"unavailable for selection because it is not compatible with the host operating system"

The output from /etc/release is "Solaris 10 10/09 s10x_u8wos_08a X86"
The Java here /usr/java points to /usr/jdk/jdk1.6.0_21 that further points to instances/jdk1.6.0

The iwpkg file is IWOVTeamSite-Solaris-x86-7.2.0.iwpkg
and the bin file is IWOVInstaller-Unix-NoJVM-7.2.0.0.0.bin

Those are the only files available on the Support site under TeamSite 7.2.

There is a patch required for Solaris read the install manual, you may not have that loaded. I had the same issue when I installed on my SPARC box.

On Solaris 10, ensure that the patch “118833” with revision number “18” or above is installed. The installer detects this patch level and proceeds with installation if the minimum kernel patch is available. If this patch is not installed, the installer displays a warning message and quits the installation."

So that patch is also for Solaris x86 processor?

I will try installing that and see if that fixes the issue.

I think so. That was the exact error I received when I tried to install on a SPARC.

You may want to just load the latest copy of Solaris 10 (released Oct of last year) which has it bundled in. Cost me $20 from Oracle. Since my system is for home it is not on Sun maintenance.

Actually, I got the latest iso image from solaris, but dont think it installed automatically. any idea which folder I might be able to find that in that image?

That iso image contains a patches folder but does not have any patches in it. May be it is a good idea to purchase solaris paying 20 bucks so all patches are there. Smiley Very Happy

No idea, the CD I had was label 10/09. TS installed fine when I had that running. I was not able to get it working with the earlier version of Soalris 10.

Well,

I was able to get the patch 118833-36 but looks like we need 118855-x?

It gives bunch of messages like:

"Version of package XXXX from directory XXXX in patch 118833-36 differs from the package installed on the system."

"The following requested patches will not be installed because
the packages they patch are not installed on this system.

0 No Packages from patch 118833-36 are installed on the system."

Again, we are installing it on solaris x86 not sparc.

Tried installing the patch 118855-36, but it came back with the attached error. I cd to the directory where the expanded patch directory is and run the patchadd 118855-36.

I also don't see the var/pkginfo in the patch directory.

So what else could be wrong?

You may need to raise this with support. Once I got the patch installed, it worked fine for me

or try to find what command the installer uses to establish whether or not the patch is installed, then hack that command :-)

I remember when installing TS6.5 on Sol9, the installer always reported a missing Solaris (java-related) patch. It was reading some OS conf file to establish that (IIRC). Luckily at the time, there was an "ignore and continue" option.

I'm also having this same problem (albiet in an Oracle VirtualBox VM). Did you manage to find out what the cause was?

Not sure if you still have this issue, but I was able to solve it by reinstalling my Solaris OS on 64bit installation. Looks like the softwares I was using were for 64bit and my OS was installed on a Guest OS that was 32 bit. The host needs to be installed on 64bit for x86 installation to be successful.

Thanks for this. You were right, I needed my guest O/S to be 64-bit Solaris. In fact, I did some further digging and noted this in the compatibility matrix:

"Only Solaris 64-bit OS supported on x86 architecture."

A fairly basic thing I should have read earlier!!
