how to copy edition from one branch to another

Hi friends i am new to teamsite . i just want to know how to copy the contents of one edition to another edition. Is it possible to copy the content of one edition in one branch to another ?. is there any documentation available for that to copy the content from one edition of a branch to anotheer branch

Option A) create a subbranch of the one that contains the edition, and set the "based on" property to the edition you're looking to copy.

I believe you could use the iwmigrate CLT to copy the whole branch to somewhere else and then perhaps trim its history to fit your needs. This way would be much more involved though.

In either case, you're creating a brand new branch. You can't apply an edition to an existing branch. Of course there's always
Option C) use the iwcp or iwupdate CLT or an actual file system copy to copy the files from the existing edition to an existing branch. This will NOT replicate the version history though, and a file system copy will lose the EAs. Note: yeah, iwupdate is not meant to do this but it used to work anyway.

Another flavor of the Option C) that I've used before to create brand new Branch with
truncated history is to use Open Deploy from Branch A/Edition X to Branch B/Workarea W,
Submit and Publish.

An extra benefit of this approach is that you can maintain Extended Attributes (and thus
keep original Meta Data) with "applyExtAttrs=yes" setting.

Wouldn't this option be slow? Once I attempted to deploy from one teamsite instance to another instance. It was very slow. Just curious as to how fast it was when you tried.

It was Ok for my purpose...

Note that things you are asking for are hard to compare. We do not know what you did, how you did it, what and how
you measure, what were the environments, hardware, software, networking, bandwidth, etc... Also, "Slow" is a relative
term, "slow" for what?

I never did a formal testing but for what it's worth OD performance in non-transactional mode seems to be on a par
with other transports like SFTP. Note also that my post was a little comment on Rick's "Option C" note, nothing more.
Normally you would want to use iwmigrate to re-create a Branch with the complete/partial history.
