Show/Hide Portlet in CCSTD based on role

Hi all,

I should hide/show a portlet based on user role that is logged in TeamSite.
For example an Editor should not be able to see the work in progress portlet while the Administrator should be able to see all the portlets.

Any suggestions will be appreciate.

Env: TeamSite 7.2.1

You'll have to use custom user operations, if this is at all possible for OOTB portlets.

1) in userops_custom.xml, define new operations like "allow view work progress"
2) in portal_custom.xml, refer to the portlet by id and add op="my_new_opname" (double-check that attr name in the doc)
3) edit the roles such that only author has "allow view work progress" checked

#2 is where i'm not sure if OOTB portlets will even look at that attribute. It might only work on custom portlets.

I don't believe this will work due to the way that FlexRoles work - users do not login with a specific role - instead they may have differing roles depending on which branch they're working within.

Not sure how it gets all figured out, but roles have both "general privileges" and "branch-specific privileges". When I add a custom menu item in CCPro, it shows up regardless of which branch you're in. If I have a role that has a general privilege that grants me access to that branch, it doesn't matter where that role is assigned to me. I guess the UI does user.getAllRoles() or somesuch.

I think it's still worth a try.
