Issue renaming a folder in TeamSite

Hi All,

I am trying to rename a folder in TeamSite WORKAREA. When the new folder is created, I can see that the old folder name is shown as a deleted folder.

Is this is an Out of the box feature of TeamSite?
Is the version concept also applicable for folders in TeamSite?

I am working on TeamSite 6.7.1 SP1 on Solaris 8.
Please help me to understand this.

I think Version concept is only applicable for "files". It is not applicable to the folders, by checking on the teamsite.

When you rename the folder, it's new copy is created with the new name and all the content inside that folder is copied to the new folder with version history of files inside the old folder, and then old folder is deleted from the workarea and Marked for move/rename.

If you select the deleted folder and click on File -->Version, you will be able to see the version number, because it's now a deleted file and not a folder.

You can't do anything with the deleted file (Old folder), Only submit can be performed.

There is versioning of folders - just not to the same degree as files.
A folder within a workarea can have one of several states:

The state that's missing is "modified", i.e. you cannot retrieve different versions of a folder, only the files within it.So - in answer to the original question - yes, this is an OOTB feature that allows you to undo the renaming of a (and thus deletion of the old-named) directory or to actually commit the renaming / deletion of the old-named directory.

Thanks for giving the conceptual clarity. I am not able to see any versions or revert option in folder properties.

Then, in this case of folders how can we undo renaming the folders?
Am I ignoring some basic steps?

If you haven't submitted it yet, you can probably just do a Get Latest with Overwrite enabled.

If you have submitted it you can either try to find the most recent edition in which it had its old name and see if you can 'revert' from there, Copy To... from there, create a temporary workarea based on that edition and then do operations between the two workareas, or just rename the folder back again and re-submit it.
