Config changes synopsis

Hi Guys!,

Can anyone help me understand that how does the configurations of the trustee selection tree, get stored in teamsite in the backend, for eg. a config file or in a table in the data base. we are looking at understanding what are the changes that were done to this configuration over a period of time.
