Moving Expired Assets

I am researching how to have a automated batch job search the "asset expire date" in the metadata of the assets in mediabin, compare it to the current date and if it is equal or greater than today move the assets to a expired folder.

I believe I can do this using Visual basic and the API. Is there any other options?

Yes, you're on the right track here. VisualBasic or VBScript would be good choices for this
