Is it true that in new release of TeamSite (ie after 6.7.2, may be 7 series), they are getting rid of Perl in TPL and WFT and getting everything on Java ?

Somebody told me this. I dont have acccess to any resources or manuals to check into this.

Can someone please provide me info about this

Thanks

They've been moving away from Perl and towards Java for years now.
There are certain aspects of the current product versions that may require the use of Java and/or XSLT (if you're using non-OS Users, if you're doing SP/LS development work) but the "answer" has been for some time that you can use whichever language you want, but keep in mind that any new features they provide may only be available through Java / XSLT as they most likely will not be updating the Perl "API" anymore.

To the best of my knowledge this has not changed in 7.x - you can still use Perl and WFTs but you should consider trying to translate what you have (and do new development) in Java and XSLT. I still believe there are some aspects of the product customization that will always be done in Perl (simple inline scripts, etc.) regardless of whether you use Perl or Java for the rest of the customizations.
