Sending Mail to TeamSite Group

Hi,

I am working in WFM and i am stuck in sending mails to Teamsite Group.
After my Email Task is a Group Task and i want to send mails to the Users in the Group.Please anybody can suggest me on this.

Well - if you have SP2 installed, you can probably do it in CSSDK, otherwise you need to use the Perl script iw_solutions_email.ipl.

In the first case, you'd have to write your own Java class (patterned mostly after customer_sample_src's MailNotificationTask.java probably) you'd make use of the CSGroupTask's methods getSharedByGroups() and getSharedByUsers() methods to retrieve the users, and from there the email addresses of those individuals who can share the group task. The getSharedBy* methods were added (I believe) in 672SP2 but aren't documented in the CSSDK 3.1.1 javadocs (they are documented in the CSSDK 7.x javadocs though)

In the second case, you'd have to write the code in Perl in your own header PT.

I'm pretty sure the OOTB java classes for sending email that come with 6.7.2 do not handle group tasks correctly.

You can still do it without SP2 if you create a custom group email task and use a task variable to assign the name of the group. That's what we did. I'm not giving away the code here, but I just wanted to say it's doable.

By passing the groupname i am able to retrieve the list of users and send mail to the group.

My next task is a group task.The users in the group receive mail notification but in the Tasks tab of the workflow the task does not appear and also the Take Task button does not appear.

I tried specifying the retainowner attribute value as true and false.i have specified the sharedby attribute set to group.
Please find my jobspec file.

Please suggest me on this .

When looking at the Tasks in the UI - what View are they using?

I can find the task only in the "UNASSIGNED GROUP TASKS" view but the take task button does not appear for that particular task and the workflow hangs in this task itself.

It's not a button, it's a small little text link (unless you followed the instructions provided in another, recent, thread) - generally found towards the upper-left-hand corner of the lower-half of the Task Details screen.

As for preventing the hanging, you should have a timeout handler (custom code) in your workflow so that nothing (except possibly the timeout handler itself) can truly hang the workflow.
