Integrate Interwoven with our .NET application

I am a total newbie to the world of Interwoven so please excuse my ignorance.

We have a large .NET application (C#) that has its own DMS. This DMS is developed using WCF technology and works pretty well.

However, we have a few potential clients that already have Interwoven and now want us to integrate with this document management system rather than use our own DMS.

Our requirements are pretty simple and include the following (I assume):

- Get documents using some sort of ID such as GUID,path etc that is held in our SQL database.Documents are typically Office documents but include PDF, TXT etc

- Save a document and return an Interwoven ID for storing in our database for later retrieval

-Word in text search for documents. Our search form is similar to the Interwoven one. We already store structured data in our database. I am not sure how Interwoven manages security so people don't get access to documents they are not authorised to view. We could manage by filtering at our end?


We would need to consider how we would get the existing meta-data such as client no, precis held in iManage into our database.


Any guidelines, gotchas, sample code, things to ask, which product to use etc would be greatly appreciated.
