OpenDeploy Admin 7.3.1

Hi,

I tried installing OpenDeploy and OpenDeploy Admin on Windows 2008 EE and Windows 2003 EE. OpenDeploy installed fine on both of them. The OD Admin also says that it installed correctly too.

However, if you try to start iwodadmin, it starts and stops right away.
Nothing in the odadmin log.
But if you look at the event viewer, you'll see three errors:
First error:
The iwodadmin service failed to start.

Second error:
Could not load the Java Virtual Machine

Third error:
The LoadLibrary function failed for the following reason: The specified module not could be found

It would be nice if they can tell me which module, but it did not. Anybody else have any luck?

(OD works fine if you use the command line)

Do you have TeamSite installed on the same machine?

If yes, then I think you are not supposed to install OD admin as TS admin is supposed to take care of OD administration as well.

If no, then check for compatibility of Java versions with your OD version.

The 7.x Administration Console provides limited features of OD admin like viewing logs, start/cancel deployments. The standalone OpenDeploy Admin provides many other features like scheduling, managing multiple OD Receivers etc.

Having OD Admin on TeamSite server is supported and we've this up on our environments.

Third error:
The LoadLibrary function failed for the following reason: The specified module not could be found

The third exception looks like some dll is missing on Windows server. You can try running Dependency walker (http://www.dependencywalker.com) tool to identify missing dll.

This was before I install TeamSite. I might just go back to using OD 7.2.1 along with TS 7.3.1. You can have both TeamSite Admin and OD Admin on the same box.

This is a fact.

Installing TS Admin might mess up with OD Admin, but you need to copy the CSF passphrase to both TS Admin and OD Admin etc directory. Then run restart both TeamSite and OD for the effect.

I've got an open Support case about this issue now where I'm asking:

- 'can I install both 7.3.1 OpenDeploy Admin and 7.3.1 TeamSite Admin on the same machine?', along with asking
- 'does the OD portion of 7.3.1 TeamSite Admin now encompass all of the OD Admin functionality?'

I think I'm probably going to get a 'maybe/maybe not' answer to the 1st ?, and a 'nope' answer to the 2nd.

I'm not a big fan of deprecating administrative functionality that we've grown accustomed to using. While there have been some OK improvements in administration between our 6.7.1 version and our DEV 7.2.1 version, when I look at the Expand / Collapse capability in 6.7.1 when working with a groups' members, I think 'where is that in 7.2.1?'
