Can create and delete content store files but not edit them

Hi!

This is TeamSite 7.2.1 under Windows Server 2008 64 Bit. We are observing an interesting issue when we access the content store through the IWServer network share. (Developer will need to do so to edit DCTs and template without going through the GUI.):

It seems files can be created and deleted without a problem. But any _modification_ made to a file is not saved. Interesting enough, the _modification date_ updates just fine, just not any content inside the file.

Anybody saw any similar behavior? A collegue observed this under 7.1, and for them the issue was fixed by upgrading to 7.2.1. Unfortunately we are running 7.2.1 already...

It sounds like a permissions issue where somehow the users are missing "MODIFY" rights even though they have "CREATE" and "DELETE" rights - though that seems a bit odd / far-fetched.

It's also possible it has something to do with the editing program(s) that might be involved, somehow not interacting correctly (or the way one would envision them working) through the IWSERVER IFS interface.

I'd suggest looking through all the log files you can find (try doing so immediately after such an event - so you only have to look at the ones that were recently modified) to see if you can find any messages that might provide more information -- that, and opening a case with Support to see if someone there can provide some ideas on what might be causing the issue.

i agree with Adam. Its has to do with the code which is getting used to make those edits.
Let me guess here, you are editing the DCR (Wait a Min you can edit only a DCR not a DCT) and making your changes and then saving it back to you IFS, I am also presuming that you are setting the Extended attribs, after you save and you a re then going back to you GUI (CCPro) and not seeing the changes. Am i right so far? Is this happening under just one Datatype or you see this occurring for other data type as well. It we would be easy for any one to debugg your issue if there was a code snippet posted which does this functionality.
